Walt Disney World has hundreds of places to eat, from a burger in line to a five-course tasting menu, and the difference between a good meal and a real memory is usually knowing which to book and when.

Chef Mickey's at Disney's Contemporary Resort is the classic buffet where Mickey and the gang come around in their chef whites, a quick monorail ride from Magic Kingdom. Topolino's Terrace at the Riviera Resort serves a rooftop breakfast with Mickey, Minnie, and friends dressed as artists, and it is one of the prettiest rooms on property. Garden Grill at EPCOT is a slow-rotating restaurant with a family-style, all-you-care-to-eat meal and visits from Chip, Dale, Mickey, and Pluto. Character meals cost more than a standard table, but for families with young kids they often become the trip's favorite hour.
Signature and special-occasion dining
California Grill sits on top of the Contemporary Resort, and its whole reputation is the view: you can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the dining room or the observation deck, with the show's music piped in. It is a grown-up room with a serious menu. Victoria & Albert's at the Grand Floridian is the fine-dining crown of the resort, a tasting-menu experience that is adults only, dressy, and the hardest reservation on this list. 'Ohana at the Polynesian is the opposite kind of special: a loud, happy, family-style feast of grilled meats with a Polynesian party feel and a bread pudding people talk about for years. Space 220 at EPCOT is the experience meal, a simulated ride up to a space station where you dine with a live view of Earth out the windows.
Beloved quick-service worth planning around
Not every great meal needs a reservation. In Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios, Docking Bay 7 serves genuinely good rice bowls and plates, and Ronto Roasters next door makes the Ronto Wrap, a spiced sausage-and-slaw wrap with a cult following. Satu'li Canteen in Pandora at Animal Kingdom is widely considered the best quick-service on property, with build-your-own bowls that are fresh and filling. And Woody's Lunch Box in Toy Story Land at Hollywood Studios does breakfast and comfort food, including a grilled cheese and tomato soup that people plan their morning around. These are counter-service prices with sit-down-quality food, which is exactly where the value lives at Disney World.
The reservation reality, and why timing wins

Table-service dining opens for booking sixty days ahead of your arrival, and the most popular rooms are gone within minutes of that window opening.
