What a Disney travel agent actually does
"Travel agent" sounds like someone who just books the trip. For Disney, the booking is the easy part. The work is everything around it:
I book the trip and then keep watching it. Disney releases discounts and promotions throughout the year. I monitor every one, and if a new promo comes out that your already-booked trip qualifies for, I apply it and your price drops. You do not have to check, rebook, or ask.
I plan your dining at the 60-day window. Disney dining reservations open 60 days before your trip, and the popular tables (Be Our Guest, Cinderella's Royal Table, Space 220) are gone within minutes. I have your plan ready for that morning so you actually get them.
I build your park-day and Lightning Lane strategy. Which three Lightning Lanes to pre-book, which headliner to buy day-of, rope-drop or sleep-in, park-hop or single-park, and the order to ride everything. A bad plan wastes hours in line; a good one gets you on more rides with less standing.
I match you to the right resort. There is no best Disney resort, only the right one for your family, your week, and your budget. Transportation, walking distance, and pools all change the trip.

"There has to be a catch." There is not.
This is the question I get most, so let me answer it plainly. Travel agents who specialize in Disney are paid a commission by Disney when a trip is booked. That commission is already built into the price whether you use an agent or not. If you book yourself, Disney simply keeps it. If you book with me, that same money pays for my planning, and your price does not change by a dollar.
So there is no version of this where booking direct saves you money. You either use the included help, or you leave it on the table.
